I have used this boot for light rambling in the woods to great effect and recently put the boot to its proper use in deep snow on the Alps. Extremely warm and waterproof and gave great support whilst snowshoeing.

I have walked 6 x in these boots now. They are as were my old Hanwag extremely comfortable. Very minor finish stiching a bit untidy but not a problem with the boot. Hanwag are the only really comfortable boot Ive walked in and I am in the process of ordering a pair of Hanwag Banks as well.

The most comfortable boot you could wear for hillwalking. I have been into the Arctic Circle below -20 in deep snow, fully submerged them while crossing deep ice cold rivers, 3 Peaks and plenty of long treks and have never experienced a leak, sore spot or slip. 5 stars are not enough. You should consider the Banks though if you are not used to a bit of weight on your feet. Wear a pair of Sealskin socks to compliment them well.

Hanwag really are one of the most polished boots on the market: They are impeccably well put together and you only need to hold them to realise that they are nearly as robust as the mountains upon which they are likely to be used. From the rand to the sole they are designed to last for years. I have this pair and more recently have bought a pair of Super Friction GTX. They are sturdy, and remain dry and comfortable all day.The only pity is that there is only a limited range in the UK. If you more variety you have to specially order them. Although you can not buy from Hanwag direct, their website shows what can be ordered.
